Therapy with Cor Valentine

Your work together is centered around gaining a better understanding of you. Cor believes that the key to knowing and understanding you lives within your body and mind. Cor’s role is to walk alongside you as you begin your journey to finding the you that you want to be.

Philosophy

There are no right or wrong answers in therapy.

The therapeutic space is a safe space to take down your mask and learn about the person underneath, to explore and be curious about you and the world around you.

Cor’s role is to EMPOWER rather than help.

Empowerment is overcoming trials, taking control of the narrative, and discovering the strength and confidence that have always lived inside. Helping implies things will get easier, but when you, a person with a marginalized identity, live in a world that is constantly working against you, things do not always get easier. We live in a world where we are constantly fighting, and empowerment drives us to take action.

Approaches

As a spiritually informed therapist, Cor works from a relational, trauma-informed, resiliency lens and enter each therapeutic relationship with empathy, patience, love, and understanding.

Cor takes a holistic, client-centered approach, emphasizing the mind-body connection. Utilizing self-psychology, dialectic behavior therapy (DBT), mindful self-compassion, and internal family systems (IFS). Incorporating art, crafts, dance, music, and other forms of creative expression.
