Individual Therapy

Individual psychotherapy is usually provided on a weekly or twice-weekly basis, and can often run between 45 to 55 minutes, depending on your needs and circumstances. We recognize how important it is to find the right therapist. Our intake staff will assist you through this process and answer any questions you may have, in order to help you make the right decisions as you proceed.

When looking to schedule your first appointment, our intake process consists of the following steps:

  1. After reaching out to us, a member of our intake staff will contact you in the preferred method you have specified from your initial inquiry (i.e., phone or email).

  2. During this initial interview, our intake staff will invite you to speak to the concerns that bring you to us and to your treatment preferences. This will help us to link you with the best options for your care.

  3. One of our staff therapists will then contact you to arrange an initial consultation, which will help both you and your therapist get a more thorough sense of the circumstances that bring you to seek psychotherapy. This initial consultation can also be very helpful in the process of making sure there is a good “fit” between you and your therapist.

If you are interested in pursuing treatment with us, or even if you just have questions, please make an appointment.

The Clinic at CRPC: Affordable Counseling

Now in its fourth year, the “Clinic” represents one of the unique aspects of our treatment services. In this setting, adult clients can receive long-term, psychodynamic psychotherapy on a low-to-no fee basis, depending on one’s financial circumstances. The “Clinic” is staffed by talented interns and fellows from CRPC’s rigorous training program, blending the study of spiritual and/or religious experience with the study of contemporary psychoanalysis and Self Psychology. They are clergy and mental health professionals, seeking to deepen and broaden their clinical skills, as well as doctoral and masters-level students, who join us from the esteemed clinical programs of the theological seminaries in the Chicago area. The interns receive regular supervision by staff and faculty members of the Center for Religion and Psychotherapy.

As an institution committed to its diversity, we are dedicated to making our unique services available to people of all racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, and religious backgrounds, including those who identify as atheist or of “no faith.” We likewise openly welcome those who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, or intersex, or who prefer other gender or sexual distinctions.
